On Saturday, October 25, Entre Hermanos celebrated its 17th Annual Día de Muertos Gala at the Sheraton Grand Seattle, marking a historic milestone for our organization.
With a completely sold-out event and a record-breaking night of fundraising, the 2025 Gala became one of the most memorable evenings in our community’s history.
El pasado sábado 25 de octubre, Entre Hermanos celebró su 17ª Gala Día de Muertos en el Sheraton Grand Seattle, marcando un antes y un después en la historia de nuestra organización. Con un evento completamente sold out y un récord de recaudación de fondos, la Gala 2025 se convirtió en una de las noches más memorables para nuestra comunidad.
Under the theme “Monarcas: We Migrate, We Transform, We Thrive,” the Gala served as a powerful metaphor for our shared story, migration, transformation, and the unwavering ability to flourish despite adversity.
In an atmosphere filled with art, emotion, and hope, our Latine LGBTQ+ community came together to celebrate life, honor our struggles, and reaffirm that our true strength lies in unity.
Bajo el lema “Monarcas: We Migrate, We Transform, We Thrive”, la gala fue una poderosa metáfora de nuestra historia compartida: la migración, la transformación y la capacidad de florecer a pesar de las adversidades. En una atmósfera llena de arte, emoción y esperanza, nuestra comunidad Latine LGBTQ+ se reunió para celebrar la vida, honrar la lucha y reafirmar que nuestra fortaleza reside en la unidad.
A Symbol That Connects Us: The Monarch Butterflies
This year’s theme paid tribute to the Monarch butterflies, a universal symbol of rebirth, resilience, and migration. The butterflies appeared in every detail: glowing from the candles on each table, projected in light across the ballroom, and, most strikingly, in the stage centerpiece, a breathtaking Día de Muertos butterfly made up of hundreds of monarchs handcrafted by community members.
The installation was designed by artist Joel Aguirre, Prevention Department Manager at Entre Hermanos, who transformed the ballroom into a living tribute to collective hope. His creation symbolized the shared journey of our migrant and diverse community — a path of transformation, dignity, and pride.
Un símbolo que nos une: las mariposas monarcas
El tema de este año rindió tributo a las mariposas monarcas, símbolo universal de renacimiento, resiliencia y migración. Las mariposas estuvieron presentes en cada detalle: en las velas que decoraban las mesas, en las proyecciones visuales y, especialmente, en la pieza central del escenario, una imponente mariposa de Día de Muertos compuesta por cientos de mariposas creadas a mano por miembros de nuestra comunidad.
La instalación fue diseñada por el artista Joel Aguirre, Manager del Departamento de Prevención de Entre Hermanos, quien transformó el salón en un homenaje visual a la esperanza colectiva. Su obra simbolizó el viaje que compartimos comocomunidad migrante y diversa: una travesía de transformación, dignidad y orgullo.
Leadership, Art, and Community
The evening was gracefully and humorously hosted by the incomparable Aleksa Manila, whose energy and warmth set the tone for the celebration.
The menu, crafted by Chef Adam Frey and inspired by Latin American flavors, celebrated our roots through a culinary experience that blended tradition, color, and memory.
One of the night’s most inspiring moments came from our Keynote Speaker, Dennis Worsham, Washington State Secretary of Health, who delivered a heartfelt message about leadership, equity, and humanity. His remarks reminded us of the crucial role that organizations like Entre Hermanos play in building a fairer, more inclusive, and representative public health system, especially for LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities.
Liderazgo, arte y comunidad
La gala fue conducida con gracia y humor por la inigualable Aleksa Manila, cuya energía y empatía marcaron el tono de la velada.
El menú, diseñado por el chef Adam Frey e inspirado en los sabores latinoamericanos, celebró nuestras raíces a través de una experiencia culinaria que combinó tradición, color y memoria.
Uno de los momentos más inspiradores fue el discurso de nuestro Keynote Speaker, Dennis Worsham, Secretario de Salud del Estado de Washington, quien ofreció un mensaje de liderazgo, equidad y humanidad. Sus palabras recordaron el papelesencial que cumplen organizaciones como Entre Hermanos en la construcción de un sistema de salud más justo, inclusivo y representativo, especialmente para las comunidades LGBTQ+ y migrantes.
A Night of Talent, Emotion, and Hope
The artistic program reached unforgettable heights.
The internationally acclaimed violinist Samuel Vargas captivated the audience with a stunning performance that earned a standing ovation, a testament to the transformative power of his art.
Later, the iconic Roxxxy Andrews, star of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, lit up the ballroom with her charisma, pride, and unmatched stage presence, turning the night into a dazzling celebration of identity and joy.
The live auction, led by the ever-charismatic Sasha Summer Cousineau, was another highlight of the evening. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, Entre Hermanos achieved a historic fundraising record.
Among the most celebrated items were the headpieces created by artist Jesús Elizalde-Lindgren — unique works that blended art, tradition, and elegance, becoming one of the Gala’s most iconic visuals.

El programa artístico llevó la emoción a su punto más alto.
El virtuoso violinista Samuel Vargas conmovió profundamente al público con una interpretación magistral que culminó en una ovación de pie, reflejo del poder transformador de su arte.
Más tarde, la icónica Roxxxy Andrews, estrella de RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, deslumbró con una actuación llena de energía, carisma y orgullo, convirtiendo el ballroom en una verdadera fiesta de identidad y celebración.
La subasta en vivo, conducida por la siempre carismática Sasha Summer Cousineau, fue otro de los momentos inolvidables de la noche. Gracias a la generosidad de los asistentes, Entre Hermanos logró alcanzar un récord histórico de recaudación.

Honoring Those Who Inspire Our Path
As every year, Entre Hermanos recognized leaders, allies, and team members whose work continues to advance our mission:

- Excellence in Leadership Award: Héctor Iván Godoy Prizke
- Heart Award (“Hermana del Alma”): Chelan Crutcher
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Robert “Roberto” Foss, Director of Legal Services at Entre Hermanos
- Staff of the Year: Alec Castor, Kelsey Shamrell-Hamilton, Mario Salcido, and Samuel Santamaría
Robert Foss’s acceptance speech was one of the evening’s most emotional moments, earning a standing ovation for its message of hope, gratitude, and justice. His words reminded us that rights are not inherited — they are defended, protected, and lived with pride.
The Gala also featured an intimate and moving moment with the testimonials of our Monarcas, Michelle and Susej, two Latine trans women who opened their hearts to share their stories with our community of allies.
Their message, presented in a beautiful and emotional video produced by our partners at Humxn Media, embodied the spirit of Entre Hermanos: the courage to transform pain into strength and vulnerability into hope.

Behind every detail was a team driven by passion, creativity, and purpose.
The entire Entre Hermanos staff, along with an extraordinary group of volunteers, worked tirelessly to ensure that every moment reflected the excellence and heart of our organization.
From the altar and stage design to communications, logistics, and production, every effort was an act of love for our community.

Una gala creada desde el corazón
Detrás de cada detalle hubo un equipo comprometido, creativo y apasionado.
Todo el staff de Entre Hermanos, junto con un extraordinario grupo de voluntarios y voluntarias, trabajó sin descanso para que cada momento reflejara la excelencia y el espíritu de nuestra organización.

A Community That Thrives: The After Party
And just when we thought the night couldn’t get any more magical… the After Party began.
To the beats of DJ Kalef, the ballroom transformed into a sea of laughter, rhythm, and movement. Within seconds, everyone rushed to the dance floor, celebrating, connecting, and embracing the pure joy of being together.
It was a vibrant reminder that creating spaces of joy is also an act of resistance, a way to reconnect, to heal, and to continue building community through happiness and pride.
The Monarch butterflies were everywhere that night, on dresses, bowties, headpieces, and in every smile that filled the room. The dress code shimmered in shades of amber, gold, and black, a reflection of our shared identity and collective beauty.
That night, the monarchs soared all around us, a living symbol of a community that migrates, transforms, and thrives when it stands united.
Una comunidad que florece: el after party
Y cuando creímos que la noche no podía ser más mágica… llegó el after party.
Bajo los beats de DJ Kalef, el salón se transformó en una explosión de alegría y movimiento. En cuestión de segundos, todos corrieron a la pista para bailar, reír y celebrar el simple y profundo acto de estar juntos.
Fue un cierre vibrante, una afirmación de que crear espacios de alegría también es un acto de resistencia: lugares donde podemos reconectar, compartir y seguir construyendo comunidad desde la felicidad y el orgullo.
Las mariposas monarcas también volaron en la pista: en los vestidos, en las corbatas, en los tocados y en cada detalle del dress code.
Esa noche, las monarcas estaban en todas partes —símbolo de una comunidad que se transforma, se eleva y sigue brillando cuando está unida.

The 17th Annual Día de Muertos Gala was more than a celebration; it was a declaration of identity, resilience, and collective love.

La 17ª Gala Día de Muertos fue mucho más que una celebración: fue una declaración de identidad, resiliencia y amor colectivo.
