Serving as a safe space for femme trans Latinas in Seattle, Las Monarcas is the first support group of its kind available entirely in Spanish. Facilitated by our Non-Medical Case Manager for PrEP, Yesenia Cruz, and our Trans Peer Navigator, Valentina de la Mora, Las Monarcas invites trans women from all over King County to join and build community with one another during our bi-weekly meetings.
The name “Las Monarcas” was chosen by the women who form our group. It represents not only the changes trans women endure, but also the beauty that life has to offer. Like Monarch Butterflies, Las Monarcas have come a long way to be where they are today. And like Monarchs, they embody grace and dignity.
Las Monarcas offers information through a culturally appropriate environment on a variety of subjects, like:
- Workforce Development
- Accessible Hormone Treatment Plans
- Gender-Affirming Legal Assistance
- PrEP Navigation
- HIV/STI Screenings
- Mental Health Resources
- and much more
