In November 2025, Entre Hermanos had the honor of joining Expedia Group for their first-ever Drag Lotería at the Seattle campus—an internal event created for Expedia employees that brought together culture, pride, and community celebration.

The gathering opened with the screening of Somos Entre Hermanos, a short film that reflects not only the work we do, but who we are as an organization. Following the screening, our Executive Director, Edgar Longoria, shared remarks on the importance of visibility, representation, and partnerships that uplift Washington’s Latine LGBTQ+ community.
Drag Lotería offered a joyful and powerful way to honor cultural roots while celebrating artistic expression. Lotería is a cherished tradition across many Latine communities, and bringing it into a drag performance created a space where joy, resistance, and pride came together.

El encuentro comenzó con la proyección de Somos Entre Hermanos, un cortometraje que refleja no solo lo que hacemos, sino quiénes somos como organización. On October 18, Entre Hermanos proudly collaborated on one of the closing-day screening of the Seattle Latin Film Festival. Lolita, directed by Jorge Xolalpa was shown at the historic Ark Lodge Cinemas in Columbia City. The event marked a powerful evening of cultural connection, artistic celebration, and storytelling that resonated deeply with the audience.
In a moment of serendipity, the screening coincided with the “No Kings” protests taking place just outside the theater- where community members voiced opposition to ICE raids and the targeting of Latine communities. The energy in the streets mirrored the spirit of Lolita, a film that challenges systems and offers poignant social commentary on the experiences of Latine people in America.
El 18 de octubre, Entre Hermanos tuvo el honor de apoyar la proyección de la película Lolita, dirigida por Jorge Xolalpa, durante el Festival de Cine Latino de Seattle en el histórico Ark Lodge Cinemas, ubicado en el vecindario de Columbia City. La velada representó un poderoso momento de conexión cultural, celebración artística y narrativas profundamente humanas.

Lolita follows Jesús, portrayed with raw intensity and emotional vulnerability by Alexis Vazquez. Recently released after nine years in prison, Jesús is a parolee navigating the challenges of rebuilding his life and finding stability so that he can reconnect with his young daughter. Vazquez’s performance grounds the film in humanity—his portrayal captures the quiet yearning, guilt, and hope of a man struggling to be seen and to start again.
The film stands out for its intimate and honest exploration of queerness, trauma, and systemic failure. Without directly focusing on immigration, Lolita evokes the universal feeling of being trapped—of not belonging or having control over one’s destiny. These themes deeply resonated with many in the audience, particularly within the LGBTQ+ Latine community.
Notable performances by Eric Roberts and Plutarco Haza further enriched the film’s emotional landscape, adding depth and nuance to Xolalpa’s vision.

Reflections from the Filmmakers
Following the screening, attendees were treated to a Q&A session with director Jorge Xolalpa and lead actor Alexis Vazquez, who joined from Los Angeles. The conversation offered insight into the creative and emotional process behind the film.
Jorge shared how Jesús’s struggles mirrored his own journey growing up undocumented, receiving DACA, and navigating a system not built for people like him to thrive. He described the intense experience of filming such an emotional project in only ten days, and offered a glimpse into upcoming works that continue to challenge norms and highlight issues impacting queer and Latine communities.
Audience members expressed how profoundly they connected with the story—many describing moments of recognition and relief in seeing experiences like theirs reflected on screen.

Después de la proyección, el público tuvo la oportunidad de participar en una sesión de preguntas y respuestas con Jorge Xolalpa y Alexis Vázquez, quienes viajaron desde Los Ángeles para acompañar el evento. On Saturday, October 25, Entre Hermanos celebrated its 17th Annual Día de Muertos Gala at the Sheraton Grand Seattle, marking a historic milestone for our organization. With a completely sold-out event and a record-breaking night of fundraising, the 2025 Gala became one of the most memorable evenings in our community’s history.
El pasado sábado 25 de octubre, Entre Hermanos celebró su 17ª Gala Día de Muertos en el Sheraton Grand Seattle, marcando un antes y un después en la historia de nuestra organización. Con un evento completamente sold out y un récord de recaudación de fondos, la Gala 2025 se convirtió en una de las noches más memorables para nuestra comunidad.
Under the theme “Monarcas: We Migrate, We Transform, We Thrive,” the Gala served as a powerful metaphor for our shared story, migration, transformation, and the unwavering ability to flourish despite adversity. In an atmosphere filled with art, emotion, and hope, our Latine LGBTQ+ community came together to celebrate life, honor our struggles, and reaffirm that our true strength lies in unity.
Bajo el lema “Monarcas: We Migrate, We Transform, We Thrive”, la gala fue una poderosa metáfora de nuestra historia compartida: la migración, la transformación y la capacidad de florecer a pesar de las adversidades. En una atmósfera llena de arte, emoción y esperanza, nuestra comunidad Latine LGBTQ+ se reunió para celebrar la vida, honrar la lucha y reafirmar que nuestra fortaleza reside en la unidad.
A Symbol That Connects Us: The Monarch Butterflies
This year’s theme paid tribute to the Monarch butterflies, a universal symbol of rebirth, resilience, and migration. The butterflies appeared in every detail: glowing from the candles on each table, projected in light across the ballroom, and, most strikingly, in the stage centerpiece, a breathtaking Día de Muertos butterfly made up of hundreds of monarchs handcrafted by community members.
The installation was designed by artist Joel Aguirre, Prevention Department Manager at Entre Hermanos, who transformed the ballroom into a living tribute to collective hope. His creation symbolized the shared journey of our migrant and diverse community — a path of transformation, dignity, and pride.

El tema de este año rindió tributo a las mariposas monarcas, símbolo universal de renacimiento, resiliencia y migración. Las mariposas estuvieron presentes en cada detalle: en las velas que decoraban las mesas, en las proyecciones visuales y, especialmente, en la pieza central del escenario, una imponente mariposa de Día de Muertos compuesta por cientos de mariposas creadas a mano por miembros de nuestra comunidad.
La instalación fue diseñada por el artista Joel Aguirre, Manager del Departamento de Prevención de Entre Hermanos, quien transformó el salón en un homenaje visual a la esperanza colectiva. Su obra simbolizó el viaje que compartimos comocomunidad migrante y diversa: una travesía de transformación, dignidad y orgullo.
Leadership, Art, and Community
The evening was gracefully and humorously hosted by the incomparable Aleksa Manila, whose energy and warmth set the tone for the celebration. The menu, crafted by Chef Adam Frey and inspired by Latin American flavors, celebrated our roots through a culinary experience that blended tradition, color, and memory.
One of the night’s most inspiring moments came from our Keynote Speaker, Dennis Worsham, Washington State Secretary of Health, who delivered a heartfelt message about leadership, equity, and humanity. His remarks reminded us of the crucial role that organizations like Entre Hermanos play in building a fairer, more inclusive, and representative public health system, especially for LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities.

A Night of Talent, Emotion, and Hope
The artistic program reached unforgettable heights. The internationally acclaimed violinist Samuel Vargas captivated the audience with a stunning performance that earned a standing ovation, a testament to the transformative power of his art. Later, the iconic Roxxxy Andrews, star of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, lit up the ballroom with her charisma, pride, and unmatched stage presence, turning the night into a dazzling celebration of identity and joy.
The live auction, led by the ever-charismatic Sasha Summer Cousineau, was another highlight of the evening. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, Entre Hermanos achieved a historic fundraising record.
Among the most celebrated items were the headpieces created by artist Jesús Elizalde-Lindgren — unique works that blended art, tradition, and elegance, becoming one of the Gala’s most iconic visuals.

El programa artístico llevó la emoción a su punto más alto. El virtuoso violinista Samuel Vargas conmovió profundamente al público con una interpretación magistral que culminó en una ovación de pie, reflejo del poder transformador de su arte. The Gala also featured an intimate and moving moment with the testimonials of our Monarcas, Michelle and Susej, two Latine trans women who opened their hearts to share their stories with our community of allies. Their message, presented in a beautiful and emotional video produced by our partners at Humxn Media, embodied the spirit of Entre Hermanos: the courage to transform pain into strength and vulnerability into hope.

Detrás de cada detalle hubo un equipo comprometido, creativo y apasionado. Todo el staff de Entre Hermanos, junto con un extraordinario grupo de voluntarios y voluntarias, trabajó sin descanso para que cada momento reflejara la excelencia y el espíritu de nuestra organización. A Community That Thrives: The After Party
And just when we thought the night couldn’t get any more magical… the After Party began. To the beats of DJ Kalef, the ballroom transformed into a sea of laughter, rhythm, and movement. Within seconds, everyone rushed to the dance floor, celebrating, connecting, and embracing the pure joy of being together.
It was a vibrant reminder that creating spaces of joy is also an act of resistance, a way to reconnect, to heal, and to continue building community through happiness and pride.
The Monarch butterflies were everywhere that night, on dresses, bowties, headpieces, and in every smile that filled the room. The dress code shimmered in shades of amber, gold, and black, a reflection of our shared identity and collective beauty.
That night, the monarchs soared all around us, a living symbol of a community that migrates, transforms, and thrives when it stands united.
Una comunidad que florece: el after party
Y cuando creímos que la noche no podía ser más mágica… llegó el after party. Bajo los beats de DJ Kalef, el salón se transformó en una explosión de alegría y movimiento. En cuestión de segundos, todos corrieron a la pista para bailar, reír y celebrar el simple y profundo acto de estar juntos.
Fue un cierre vibrante, una afirmación de que crear espacios de alegría también es un acto de resistencia: lugares donde podemos reconectar, compartir y seguir construyendo comunidad desde la felicidad y el orgullo.

From September 15 to October 15, Entre Hermanos joined communities across Washington to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month—a time to honor the diversity, resilience, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino people from all walks of life.
Each event offered an opportunity to connect with the community, strengthen partnerships, and advance the organization’s mission of promoting the health, safety, and dignity of LGBTQ+ Latine individuals. Community Events & Highlights
El Grito 2025 with the Mexican Consulate — September 14
Entre Hermanos began the month at Town Hall Seattle during El Grito, hosted by the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, Orquesta Northwest, and the MEXAM NW Festival. The organization tabled alongside other local partners, connecting with families and sharing culturally affirming health and resource information for the LGBTQ+ Latine community.
National Voter Registration Pop-Up at Paseo — September 16
On National Voter Registration Day, Entre Hermanos hosted a bilingual voter registration pop-up at Paseo Caribbean Restaurant, providing information and assistance to help community members register to vote and access Spanish-language election materials. The event reflected the organization’s ongoing commitment to civic engagement and empowerment.
Solidcore x Entre Hermanos: Wellness for All — September 27 & October 9
Entre Hermanos partnered with Solidcore Studios in Totem Lake and Capitol Hill for two special fundraising and awareness classes focused on inclusivity in fitness and wellness spaces. These collaborations helped raise visibility and funds for the organization while creating affirming, safe environments for LGBTQ+ participants.
Expedia Hispanic Heritage Mercado — September 23
At Expedia’s Hispanic Heritage Mercado, Entre Hermanos engaged with employees, shared resources, and discussed ways that both corporations and individuals can support the health and well-being of the Latine LGBTQ+ community through partnership and advocacy.

To close the month, Entre Hermanos participated in El Mercadito, a Hispanic Heritage Market organized by the MEChA chapter at Seattle University. The event offered an opportunity to connect with students and local community members, share resources, and inspire future collaboration.

El Grito 2025 con el Consulado de México — 14 de septiembre
Entre Hermanos comenzó el mes en Town Hall Seattle durante El Grito, organizado por el Consulado de México en Seattle, Orquesta Northwest y el Festival MEXAM NW. La organización participó junto a otras entidades locales, conectando con familias y compartiendo recursos e información sobre salud y bienestar para la comunidad latina LGBTQ+.
Evento de Registro de Votantes en Paseo — 16 de septiembre
El Día Nacional de Registro de Votantes, Entre Hermanos organizó un evento bilingüe en Paseo Caribbean Restaurant, brindando información y asistencia para que las personas pudieran registrarse y acceder a materiales electorales en español. La actividad reflejó el compromiso continuo de la organización con la participación cívica y el empoderamiento comunitario.
Solidcore x Entre Hermanos: Bienestar para Todos — 27 de septiembre y 9 de octubre
Entre Hermanos colaboró con Solidcore Studios en Totem Lake y Capitol Hill para ofrecer dos clases especiales enfocadas en promover la inclusión en los espacios de bienestar y ejercicio. Estas colaboraciones ayudaron a visibilizar la labor de la organización, recaudar fondos y fomentar ambientes seguros y afirmativos para personas LGBTQ+.
Mercado de la Herencia Hispana en Expedia — 23 de septiembre
Durante el Mercado de la Herencia Hispana de Expedia, Entre Hermanos compartió recursos con el personal de la empresa y dialogó sobre cómo las alianzas corporativas e individuales pueden contribuir a la salud y bienestar de la comunidad latina LGBTQ+.

El Mes de la Herencia Hispana nos recuerda que la comunidad latina e hispana es increíblemente diversa, abarcando múltiples nacionalidades, idiomas y culturas. Cada herencia aporta tradiciones e historias únicas que merecen celebrarse, no solo durante un mes, sino todos los días del año.

On October 11, 2025, at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Seattle Gala held at Victory Hall, Entre Hermanos was honored with the Community Impact Award — a recognition that celebrates our ongoing fight for equity, visibility, and the dignity of Washington’s Latine LGBTQ+ community.
The evening was a powerful gathering of advocates, leaders, and allies from across the state and the nation. This year’s guests included comedian Dana Goldberg and Congresswoman Emily Randall (WA-06), whose presence underscored the spirit of unity and representation that defines this event. Together, attendees celebrated the progress made and renewed their commitment to the work still ahead for full equality and inclusion.
El pasado 11 de octubre de 2025, en la Gala de Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Seattle celebrada en Victory Hall, Entre Hermanos fue galardonado con el Premio al Impacto Comunitario 2025, un reconocimiento que celebra nuestra lucha constante por la equidad, la visibilidad y la dignidad de la comunidad LGBTQ+ Latine en el estado de Washington.
La velada reunió a defensores, líderes y aliados de todo el estado y del país. Entre los invitados destacados de este año estuvieron la comediante Dana Goldberg y la Congresista Emily Randall (WA-06), cuya presencia reafirmó el espíritu de unidad y representación que caracteriza este evento. Fue una noche para celebrar los avances logrados y renovar el compromiso con la lucha que aún continúa por la plena igualdad e inclusión.
Receiving this award was more than an honor — it was a moment of collective pride and reflection. It represents the decades of work that Entre Hermanos has carried forward: from legal advocacy and health services to community education and empowerment. On June 29, 2025, Entre Hermanos made history with style, rhythm, and unstoppable pride! Our participation in the Seattle Pride Parade was more than just a march. It was a movement. A moment. A declaration. With 200 participants, the maximum allowed per organization by Seattle Pride, our contingent became the largest Latine presence in Seattle Pride’s history; a powerful reminder that our stories, flags, languages, and identities belong at the heart of the LGBTQ+ movement.
El 29 de junio de 2025, Entre Hermanos hizo historia —y lo hicimos con estilo, ritmo y un orgullo imparable. Nuestra participación en el desfile del Seattle Pride fue mucho más que una marcha. Fue un movimiento, un momento y una declaración.
Con 200 participantes (el máximo permitido por Seattle Pride), nuestra participación se convirtió en la presencia latine más grande en la historia del Seattle Pride, un poderoso recordatorio de que nuestras historias, banderas, idiomas e identidades pertenecen al corazón del movimiento LGBTQ+.
Our float transformed the streets of Seattle into a celebration of Latin American Carnavales—a dazzling display of color, music, dance, and festive joy. Dressed in vibrant feathers, costumes, and embellishments, it showcased the beauty of our traditions and the energy that defines Latine culture.
More than a visual spectacle, the float embodied resilience and pride: a heartbeat pulsing with rhythm, celebration, and the message that as Latines, we always rise in the face of adversity.
Nuestro carro alegórico transformó las calles de Seattle en un carnaval latinoamericano —una explosión de color, música, danza y alegría desbordante. Con plumas vibrantes, trajes brillantes y decoración festiva, celebramos la belleza de nuestras tradiciones y la energía que define a nuestra cultura.
Más allá del espectáculo visual, nuestro carro representó resiliencia y orgullo: un corazón que late con ritmo, celebración y el mensaje de que como comunidad latine, siempre nos levantamos ante la adversidad.
From Mexico to Chile, El Salvador to Argentina, and everywhere in between, every Latin American flag was represented in our march. There was so much power in this display of representation, visibility, and unity! A bold reminder of the strength that comes when we stand together as a collective. Spectators lit up as they recognized their country’s colors waving proudly through the crowd. The energy was electric: Shouts of recognition, waves of joy, and even a few tears from those who saw themselves reflected in a celebration that embraced both queerness and latinidad. This delegation of Latin American flags undoubtedly stirred some of the most emotional reactions of the day, a reminder of how deeply visibility matters.
Desde México hasta Chile, de El Salvador a Argentina, y todos los países de Latinoamérica entre medio, cada bandera latinoamericana estuvo presente en nuestra marcha. Lo más importante fue el poder de la representación, la visibilidad y la unidad —la fuerza que nace cuando nos presentamos con orgullo y caminamos juntes. El público se iluminaba al reconocer los colores de su país ondeando con orgullo. La energía era eléctrica: gritos de emoción, lágrimas de alegría y olas de orgullo al ver una celebración que abrazaba tanto la identidad queer como la cultural. La delegación de banderas latinoamericanas sin duda provocó algunas de las reacciones más emotivas del día, recordándonos cuán profundamente importa la visibilidad.
In a moment that resonated deeply, members of the Mexican Consulate joined our parade contingent, marching arm-in-arm with our community. Their presence sent a powerful message: a public affirmation of respect, recognition, and openness toward LGBTQ+ identities.
This gesture reflects the long-standing relationship of mutual respect and collaboration between the Mexican Consulate in Seattle and Entre Hermanos. Every Wednesday, Entre Hermanos provides free sexual health testing at the Consulate—services open not only to the Mexican community, but to anyone who wishes to access them.
It was a significant and emotional demonstration of solidarity that brought visibility and validation to our queer Latine community—and a hopeful sign of continued progress.
En un gesto profundamente simbólico, miembros del Consulado Mexicano en Seattle marcharon junto a nuestra comunidad. Caminaron codo a codo, reafirmando su compromiso de respeto, reconocimiento y apertura hacia las identidades LGBTQ+.
Este gesto refleja la relación de colaboración y respeto mutuo que por años hemos cultivado con el consulado. Cada miércoles, Entre Hermanos ofrece pruebas gratuitas de salud sexual en sus instalaciones, un servicio disponible no solo para la comunidad mexicana, sino para quien lo necesite.
Su participación fue una demostración significativa de solidaridad, visibilidad y esperanza para nuestra comunidad lgtbq+ latine.
A shining highlight of the day was the participation of many members from Monarcas, our trans women’s support group. Their presence was radiant and fearless. Dressed in colorful outfits and brilliant smiles, they embodied the spirit of our Gala theme: “Monarcas: We Migrate. We Transform. We Thrive.”
This year, Monarcas brought together the largest group of trans Latine women ever to march in Seattle Pride—a powerful milestone that underscored the importance of visibility. Their presence carried a message of resilience and hope for our entire community: the courage to be seen, the strength to thrive, and the unwavering demand for space, joy, and justice
Uno de los momentos más especiales del día fue la participación de tantas integrantes de Monarcas, nuestro grupo de apoyo para mujeres trans. Con atuendos coloridos y sonrisas radiantes, marcharon con valentía y orgullo, reflejando el espíritu del tema de nuestra gala:
“Monarcas: Migramos. Nos transformamos. Prosperamos.”
Este año, Monarcas reunió al grupo más grande de mujeres trans latinas en la historia del Seattle Pride —un hito poderoso que subrayó la importancia de la visibilidad trans. Su presencia fue un mensaje claro de resistencia y esperanza: el coraje de ser vistas, la fuerza para prosperar y la exigencia firme de espacio, alegría y justicia.
We danced. We marched. We waved our flags high. And through it all, we carried a unified message: Latine LGBTQ+ identities are powerful, beautiful, and here to stay.
Entre Hermanos is proud to be the first LGBTQ+ Latine nonprofit organization in Washington State. Born in the midst of the HIV crisis, we not only survived—we grew, and for more than 30 years we have stood strong for our community. Today, and in the years ahead, we continue—and will continue—to work for our community, for the defense of our rights, and for the health, education, well-being, and dignity of our Latine LGBTQ+ family.
