On July 27, Entre Hermanos lit up Othello Playground in Seattle with a night full of culture, pride, and community power during our annual Movie in the Park. It was more than just an outdoor screening, it was a vibrant celebration of art, resilience, and unity for our Latine LGBTQ+ community.
El pasado 27 de julio, Entre Hermanos iluminó el Othello Playground en Seattle con una noche llena de cultura, orgullo y poder comunitario durante nuestra ya tradicional Movie in the Park. Fue mucho más que una proyección al aire libre—fue una vibrante celebración de arte, resiliencia y unidad para nuestra comunidad Latine LGBTQ+.
The evening began with a unique interactive art activity led by Venezuelan artist Alex Siniscalchi. Inspired by our Monarcas, the piece invited attendees to add their colors, marks, and voices to a collective canvas representing transformation, resilience, and visibility. The finished artwork is now on permanent display at Entre Hermanos’ Seattle office, as a lasting symbol of the power of community and creativity.
La velada comenzó con una experiencia única de arte interactivo dirigida por el artista venezolano Alex Siniscalchi. Inspirada en nuestras Monarcas, la pieza invitó a lxs asistentes a sumar sus colores, trazos y voces a un lienzo colectivo que representa transformación, resiliencia y visibilidad. La obra finalizada está ahora expuesta de manera permanente en la oficina de Entre Hermanos en Seattle, como símbolo duradero del pod
Guided by the energy of our emcee Yohanna Lara, guests enjoyed raffles, music by our DJ, valuable community resources, and a special tasting of Latin American coffees provided by Fulcrum, which added even more warmth and flavor to the evening. Thanks to the generous support of AHF Pharmacy, the first 100 attendees were treated to free tamales—a delicious reminder of home and tradition that connected us around the table.
Con la energía contagiosa de nuestra maestra de ceremonias, Yohanna Lara, lxs asistentes disfrutaron de rifas, música con nuestro DJ, valiosos recursos comunitarios y una especial degustación de cafés latinoamericanos gracias a Fulcrum, que añadió aún más calidez y sabor a la velada. Gracias al generoso apoyo de AHF Pharmacy, los primeros 100 invitados recibieron tamales gratuitos—un pedacito de tradición que nos unió a todxs alrededor de la mesa.
As the sun set, the park transformed into an open-air theater for the screening of “La Sombra del Sol”, Venezuela’s official submission to the Oscars. Thanks to our partnership with the Seattle Latino Film Festival, we were honored to share this powerful film with our community, and to connect directly with its producer and director who made the screening possible.
Al caer el sol, el parque se transformó en un cine al aire libre para la proyección de “La Sombra del Sol”, la película que representó a Venezuela en los Premios Oscar. Gracias a nuestra alianza con el Seattle Latino Film Festival, tuvimos el honor de compartir esta poderosa cinta con nuestra comunidad y contar con la cercanía de su productor y director, quienes hicieron posible su proyección.
